Die Hard 2: Die Harder

How many bad Christmases can one guy have?

This is the movie that helped me decide never to watch movies on non pay cable stations ever again. After having seen the movie on HBO when it came out, you can imagine my great disappointment to watch it on Fox. The tipping point was when the famous line came around, and expecting to hear the vugarity beeped or muted, you might imagine how insulted I felt when seeing John McClane light the jet fuel look up and say "Yippie Kay Yay Mr. Falcon". It was immediately after that I decided I would never see a movie as great as this on anything less than HBO type channels or official VHS release..hey DVD hadn't come out yet.
The movie itself was the perfect follow up to the original. I loved everything about it. They made a good choice in casting VelJohnson to reprise his roll as St. Al Powell. It was also a good idea to keep the interaction between him and McClane to a minimum so that he would be important but not as integral to this movie as it was in the first one.
I also love the fact that this one took place in a much larger area. An airport is a large place to explore, while at the same time gave them the ability to bring in different environments other than just offices and airducts. While it isn't as good as the first movie, it still has some incredible merit. Besides where else are you going to see John Leguizamo playing a bad guy for about 45 seconds on screen? Look carefully you will see him patrolling the terrorist compound.
