Pee Wee's Big Adventure

Review - Pee-wee's Big Adventure (1985)

After his eccentric bike was stolen, Pee-wee Herman (Paul Reubens) set off on a nation-wide search for his beloved transportation. Pee-wee comes to life on the big screen in “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure.”

In director Tim Burton’s debut feature film, he shows just what he can do as a director, though he definitely did get better over time. The movie is a bizarre, absurdist comedy that still feels real to an extent.

Another debut in this movie is composer Danny Elfman, who got his first big break here. It’s also not his best score, but it’s just as powerful for his career as the movie was for Burton.

There’s not really much to say about “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure” other than “See it.” It’s a funny movie with lots of humorous acting and writing that is hard to resist.

Acting: 8/10
