Backstory?

The movie was entertaining. The performances were great. I enjoyed the black and white. But I never understood why Deniro's character was so angry and on edge. Did I miss something? A little backstory would have been nice. Maybe that's why it's good, you keep guessing what happend in his past, did his brother ever call him, etc? I'm not sold on this being a great film, but a very good film.

It was the way he was - he was not given too many chances, had a crappy life at the begining and was just rough. It is more about the negative effects of boxing rather than about the bull himself. In my opinion anyway.
