I first saw Roger Corman's A Bucket of Blood a little over a year ago and it may surprise some people when I say that I legitimately love this movie, with absolutely no sarcasm or irony. Out of all the Corman films that I have seen (and altough I really like 'X', and love The Masque of the Red Death), this is one of my very favorites from him. It's a stark-black comedy/B-Horror film that is drenched in satire, and is a warped, but nevertheless truthful mirror pointing at the late-50s/early 60s culture, the art scene, and in some ways Corman's movies themselves.

Starring the great character-actor Dick Miller, plays the role he may be best known for as Walter Paisley, a completely moronic guy who just wants to fit in with the beatnik crowd. So, what does he do? He kills people and puts clay over them and the entire art-community, unaware of the bodies inside, find him to be a brilliant artist and master craftsman.

It is such an insane little movie on so many levels: the characters, the dialogue, the set-ups, the methods of murder, it's just a crazy, crazy, genius weirdo-movie. In fact, I read somewhere that this is composer Philip Glass' favorite film...what an awesome guy.
