Super, Eh!

The newest Superman movie done by James Gunn goes directly into the story of painting Superman/Clark Kent as more Human and flawed than past versions. I have been a fan of James Gunn's other Marvel/DC movies. ( All 3 of the Guardians were entertaining, His Suicide Squad was heeps better than the original David Ayer version, his highly underrated Super and Slither. Even his very early none superhero movie LolliLove was worth viewing. He has misfired with Brighburn but normally he keeps his films loose, fun and hip. I think this Superman lacks the depth of the Guardian movies and feels like he wasn't sure which way he wanted to present the new Superman. A decent lead performance but Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor was a bland villian. Definitely not nearing the Gene Hackman or Kevin Spacey versions. I felt the movie to be too flippant and I could never feel myself settling into the film. I think it was a misfire again with some good special effects and a few funny jokes but lacking.
