Action: 3 / 3, Comedy: 0 / 2, Good vs Evil: 1 / 1, Love/Sex: 1 / 1, Special Effects: 1 / 1, Plot: 0.5 /1, Music: 0.5 / 1 = 7/10 or 70%.

300 became a pop-culture icon and spurred debates similar to the ones Braveheart summoned in the 90's. These controversies revolved around histroical accurracy and the overtly evil nature of the enemies (in 300 the Persians, in Braveheart the English). What many forget is that this is a comic book film adapted from a Frank Miller graphic novel. It is a tribute to Spartans and class struggles as much as Braveheart was a celebration of Scottish struggles. Therefore to penalize this for historical accurracy is just as logical as penalizing Captain america for not actually fighting in World War 2 (He didn't by the way).

Apologetics aside, 300 is one hell of an action movie! Like all things primarily comic it is an aggrandized male fantasy of the common man becoming legend through heroic deeds. It has been used as inspiration not only as an example of what comic films can become, but also as inspiration to professional sports franchises (the Lakers watched it to inspire themselves for the 2008 finals). This cult following has spawned high demand for a sequel, which will be released once Frank Miller completes the follow-up graphic novel.
