Cult Status is Earned and Not Expected

You can't just purposely make a movie off beat from everything else and say right from the beginning that it is a 'cult' film. Your movie has to earn that status by not only being unique, but also offering something of value to the viewer in a special way. This movie opts to say: "I'm a cult film. You will enjoy me, dammit!", right out of the gate swinging. And all those swings miss horribly. It's trying to feed off the fumes of the never ending 'Rocky Horror' fandom, but replace the camp with a serious tone and the jokes with gore. The end result is a dull opera that offers nothing but... well, nothing.
