I'll admit I came into this with fairly low expectations. I've never read the book and this just didn't seem like my cup of tea. However, it moves along at a decent pace and it keeps you entertained throughout. Henry Fonda is great as Tom Joad. John Ford, Academy Award for Best Director, shows once again why he's a master. Jane Darwell, as Ma won the Academy Award for Supporting Actress. I saw this on TCM and Robert Osborn said that Ford changed the ending to end on a more upbeat note.
I recommend this to all, to see how, with family, you can persevere through all of life's struggles.
