Nicole Kidman plays a sultry TV Weather Girl Suzanne Stone who is desperate to become the big TV star and she'll stop at nothing to see her ambitions fulfilled. She thinks her laid-back loving Italian husband (Matt Dillon) is standing in her way so while working on a video project with high school students she manipulates one of them, a moody teenager Joaquin Phoenix into killing her husband. Phoenix' young accomplices are classmates Casey Affleck and Alison Folland. Lending support to Mr. Dillon's side is his figure-skating sister Illeana Douglas who never liked Suzanne from the inception.
It's pretty much straightforward satire, and you'll either agree with it or dismiss it as clichéd. I go with the former but you can judge for yourself. Nicole Kidman was convincing in her role of Suzanne Stone: she was cunning, cold, and utterly evil but oh so sexy while Joaquin Phoenix is compelling and believable as the young man blinded by devotion to a calculating older woman.
