My Cousin Vinny

My Cousin Vinny (1992)

Two college boys Bill Gambini (Ralph Macchio) and Stan (Fred Gwynne) from New York City get falsely arrested for armed robbery and murder after they happened to be an Alabama store just prior to the store clerk being shot. Upon realizing they can't afford a good lawyer, Bill enlists the services of his cousin Vinny (Joe Pesci) who has just passed the Bar. Pesci plays the fish-out-of-water role to perfection here as Vincent Gambini, who is new at law but makes up for his lack of book knowledge with an amazing array of street smarts, guts, guile, confidence. He's just so likable that you can't help loving the guy. In addition to Pesci's brilliant performance, we are treated to some great supporting work by Best Supporting Actress Marisa Tomei (as Vinny's feisty, smart girlfriend Mona Lisa Vito) who has a love for automobiles. A great comedy classic and Pesci and Tomei play off each other exquisitely.
