Western genre with that real feeling. The gunfight at the end is something. Attention is paid to the details of living and personal interactions of the period. I'm not a fan of either Kevin Costner or Robert Duvall, but I found them very watchable in this. There's the standard bad-guy boss who runs the town, the cowboys who get wronged by said boss, the woman (played wonderfully by Annette Bening) who has an interest in the cowboy, and the comeuppance at the end. Nicely done.
