This is far from a complete list. This site has so many great old movies not available to choose to add to the list. But of the ones that can be found, some may also find these worth watching. The top choice, although dated, has some intense scenes.

Top War List comment
These are among my favorites-I've never seen anything like the opening sequence in Private Ryan in terms of what I would imagine real war to be like. It is not a complete list, but lists the titles I could easily find here on this site.
