Offbeat western directed by John Huston and written by John Milius (who reportedly was not happy with the final product). Paul Newman has some funny bits as the self made judge and lawman ruling over his personal fiefdom in the Old West. And there's a bear sidekick named after Zachary Taylor that has some cute scenes. It does switch between farce and drama on a dime.
