One of the last films from the late actor Paul Walker, Hours shows us a more grounded side of the actor. Far removed from the action of Fast and the Furious or Brick Mansions, Hours is about a father trying desperately to keep his newborn baby alive as Hurricane Katrina ravages New Orleans. His wife has died in childbirth, the hospital is evacuated and the only thing standing between life and death is an ancient generator (that must be charged in 3 minutes - even less time as the film goes on) and staying awake. Add in IV bags, looters and memory - well, things get pretty intense. The flashbacks are a bit awkward, but otherwise and excellent film that showcases a different side of the action star.

Finally got around to view this simple yet enigmatic film from the late Paul Walker. The plot is simple, Nolan (Walker) gets trapped in a hospital with his new born daughter and tries to survive various obstacles due to the detrimental effects Hurricane Katrina. This definitely worked not because of its realism, a well-acted dog and the myriad of tense filled situations, but the authenticity of Walker's performance. Some low points that prolong the film were the flashbacks (which in this critics opinion, should have been from the beginning of the film showed the history of their relationship). Still, if you were the viewer and imagine being in his shoes, it would be very difficult and strenuous. Its messages of deep love, survival, how people succumb to be selfish in dire moments …
