Filmed in 2007, released in 2011, TikTok notoriety in 2020 - Megan is Missing tries to be a found footage cautionary tale but comes across as mostly exploitative with after-school special vibes. Yes, the last 20 minutes are unsettling but you have to sit though that awful setup first and honestly - not worth it.

If you watched Megan Is Missing then it's a movie you'll NEVER forget. It's very disturbing & extremely hard to watch. The last 10-15 minutes were the worst.Just like the Paranormal Activity movies, Megan Is Missing is a movie I will only watch once & never again.Horror movies that are full of guts & gore don't even creep me out as much as this movie did

The reason why people are defending this movie is because it's mostly the fact that the movie advertise it's self as a "real shocking found footage film", even when these scenes where I can hear the director in the background saying "Cut" at the beginning of each scene. These another scene where there go to this party and these really loud music going off in the background and you know in these found footage films where music is playing in the background …
