Plot: A gay re-telling of Charles Dickens' classic Oliver Twist. Updated to current times, moved out of the poor house and onto the streets, the tale is told from the point of Dickens' character, Artful Dodger--now Dodge. The prosaically beautiful Oliver falls into the hands of down-and-out young men. Dodge takes the young man under his wing and instructs him in the unforgiving arts of drug abuse and prostitution. As Oliver's innocence dissolves, both young men confront inner and outer demons and, strangely, it is Dodge who finds he cannot escape his past.

I really enjoyed this movie. But I can't help feeling that something is missing. Perhaps it's that the characters aren't fleshed out well enough. You never really know enough about them or their past which makes it harder to feel for them. I liked the movie well enough I suppose. There's just something missing. However, the acting was well done. And I completely fell for Dodger and Oliver (just wanted more of them). Overall, if a gay re-telling of Oliver Twist sounds appealing to you then this movie is at least worth trying.
