Ride on Easy Rider: Dennis Hopper Dies at 74

A true cinematic icon, Dennis Hopper died today at 74 after a long battle with prostrate cancer. Lately appearing in the Starz television series Crash, Hopper is best known for roles in Easy Rider and Blue Velvet. Hopper had many other memorable film roles including a photojournalist in Apocalypse Now and the leader of post-apocalyptic society in Land of the Dead.

Hopper's final roles include a voice in the upcoming animated film Alpha and Omega and a leading part as producer Nick Twain in Linda Yellen's The Last Film Festival.

To me, Hopper will always be the odd yet endearing actor. He could channel madness and make you believe it all. Wild, outspoken and never afraid to speak his mind - Hopper was an original, and he will be missed.

Such a shock. He seemed like one of those guys who'd be around forever. I even loved his financial planning ads.
