New Movies to Crave: Enjoy the Road Rage with Nic Cage or a Wild Weekend with Owen Wilson

With the cream of the crop of Hollywood being honored at this weekends Oscars it's ironic that the two wide-release films opening are about as far from Oscar-worthy as you can get.

1) Now, say what you will about Nicholas Cage, but he always looks like he's having a good time, no matter how bad the movie he winds up in. Drive Angry 3D looks to be another action-packed wild ride where Cage glowers and act menacing on a mission from hell! But hey, at least there's eye candy too with Amber Heard along for the ride. I suspect this will garner harsh reviews and entertain mainly the college crowd, mainly because that's the main crowd that will be buzzed enough to get through it.

2) Looking like it's trying to capture the same success at The Hangover, R-rated comedy Hall Pass finds Owen Wilson, Jason Sudeikis and company on a one-week marriage vacation where they can do whatever they want without consequence. The Farrelly brothers direct, but really, have they had a decent film since There's Something About Mary? - I see this falling short and if I wanted to see another film like The Hangover, I'll probably just wait for Hangover 2.

That's it - my advice is to stay home and watch the awards - I'll have a recap of the show Sunday night, so box office results will have to wait until Monday.
