New DVD and Blu-Ray Releases to Crave This Week: Predators and Psychos

If you're into crazy, this might just be the best week for you, as a trio of new Blu-Ray releases will bring out the mightiest of insanity to hit the big screen.

1) Out first bachelor is a former U.S. Colonel who now runs a small village as a self-proclaimed "god" - please give it up for... Colonel Kurtz! That's right you can now get Apocalypse Now in high-def glory. If you get the full disclosure addition, you'll end up with the exclusive Hearts of Darkness documentary w. optional commentary, collectible booklet, storyboard gallery and script excerpt. Those opting for just the movie can enjoy new interviews including the 2001 Cannes interview of Francis Ford Coppola by Roger Ebert.

2) Our next bachelor is shy man who runs a motel with his "mother". Don't worry ladies, he'll keep an eye on you - meet... Norman Bates! With Halloween just around the corner, now is a good time to pick up Psycho on Blu-Ray. The 50th Anniversary edition has plenty of extras from trailers to interviews to storyboards and plenty on the music. A worthy addition to any collection.

3) Finally, our third bachelor is an intergalactic cross-dressing scientist from Transylvania... but not the one you're thinking of... Please welcome Dr. Frank-N-Furter! Yes, for all you sing-a-long fans another Halloween treat is coming to Blu-Ray, The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The 35th Anniversary not only has improved picture, but it's own call-back track so you can dress up with your friends in your own home and throw things at your TV instead of a big screen. So now you can do the time warp again and again... and again.

4) As for new films, the highlight is the action-packed Predators featuring a pretty eclectic mix of actors (Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Danny Trejo, Laurence Fishburne and Alice Braga - amongst others) most of whom I assume will die in graphic, horrific and totally awesome ways. If you're in the mood for action, this one's for you.

5) In celebration of Halloween is also the updated version of Night of the Demons with Edward Furlong and crew going to a party but getting demons instead. It may have skipped theaters, but since it's Halloween time I'll let it slide.

There are plenty of other Blu-Ray releases as well. Criterion continues their Blu-Ray quest with Seven Samurai - an epic if there ever was one. If you don't prefer Rocky Horror musicals, then perhaps Moulin Rouge! is more your style. I'm sure it will look great on Blu-Ray, as it is a very vibrant film. Shakespeare fans will either applaud or lament the release of Romeo + Juliet - hey, I always enjoyed this one - keep the language, update the setting - what's not to like? Finally, for those who enjoy getting the most out of their Blu-Ray is Disneynature: Oceans. While I still think you can get more out of Planet Earth or Water Life, for those wanting a more brief experience, this will do.

That's not all, but if you want a complete list, take time to visit the FilmCrave New DVD Releases and the FilmCrave New Blu-Ray Releases pages today.
