Give Opportunity Knocks a Opportunity to please!

Opportunity Knocks surprised me in a pleasant way. I was expecting Dana Carvey's first movie to be a poor extension of his Saturday Night Live routines but actually it is was quite funny and heart warming.
The story of a low life con artist who dreams of a normal life, it tells of Eddie who accidentally assumes the identify of a man named Jonathon. Jonathon is supposed to be house-sitting for his friend David, but just as Eddie and partner break in to the house, they learn via an answer machine that Jonathon isn't going to make it and the house will be unattended. Then the chaos starts.
With David's family believing that Eddie is Jonathon, Eddie has to try and assume the identity of a stranger so that he can keep avoiding a loan shark that is on his tail. This leads to a whole series …

Worth only a few chuckles

"Eddie Farrell" (Dana Carvey) is a small-time, but effective con artist. He and his friend and parner, "Lou" (Todd Graff) get in a little trouble with a loan shark (James Tolkan), and have to go on the lam.

Eventually, the two break into a nice house in a nice neighborhood where they start to live in. The next morning, the housesitter (voiced by Mark Ross) calls and leaves a message on the machine telling the home's owner that he will not be able to housesit.

Later on, "Farrell" is coming downstairs after taking a shower, wearing a towel, when "Mona" (Doris Belack), the mother of the man who owns the house, walks in and is startled by him. Her husband, "Milt" (Robert Laggia), who was waiting in the car, runs in.

The parents automatically assume that "Eddie" is "Jonathan", and …
