While the back cover of the movie makes it read like Jane Austen's sexiest novel, the truth is that that is a lie and Jane Austen's own mother called Fanny (Frances O'Connor) insipid, or something of the like. While the adaptation is a little on the weak side, it is still tolerable, especially for Jane Austen fans. It does not hold up well today, since Fanny's love interest is her cousin, but is still worth checking out.
