A perfectly fine sequel that still captures the look and feel of the first film but didn't quite have the same effect on me. I really liked Idris Elba as the newcomer Knuckles - Sonic's foil - and Jim Carrey's unhinged take on Dr. Robotnic / Eggman - whathaveyou - is still a highlight. The human element is still lacking but, let's face it, watching a Sonic and Tails dance-off in a random Siberian bar is much more fun anyway. I'll still give the third film a look for sure and, as video game movies go, this is still a win.

It falls into that predictable family-friendly territory more than once, but "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" is just as bouncy, colorful, and light on its feet as both the first one and the game series they're based on.
