It’s very well acted and it has the best of intentions. It’s just not very entertaining. Awkwafina is better than expected so she has that going for her.

"The Farewell" is an effective drama with enough light comedy on its edges to keep things from getting too grim. I loved this movie, and unlike the film's premise, that's no lie.
