Diner review

Daniel Corleone - wrote on 05/28/2012

This film was less funny than Swingers and American Graffiti, though its realistic approach makes it worth viewing. Eddie (Steve Guttenberg), Shrevie (Daniel Stern), Boogie (Mickey Rourke), Fen (Kevin Bacon) and Billy (Tim Daly) hangout at a diner and talk about their relationships. Beth (Ellen Barkin) feels some insecurity because of her husband's attitude. Soundtrack was apt and upbeat while the performances solid. Screenplay was good with lines from the characters: Boogie – “You got a lot to learn.” Billy – “We have to work it out.” Fen – “Do you ever get the feeling that there's something going on that we don't know about?” Topics on friendship, marriage, family problems and maturation. Diner has its moments and a few humorous scenes. A descent watch …
