A tighter and more solidly sound version of "Superman II," "The Richard Donner Cut" gets rid of of Lester's looney slapstick for a heavier tone that's more like the superhero movies of today. The better paced plot remedies the 1980's lurching movement and helps to see past the silly moments that both versions share. This is the superior cut.

This is the best version of what is also the best out of all of the Superman movies featuring Christopher Reeve.

With newer resources and access to deleted/unused footage, Richard Donner re-creates his version of 'Superman II' in the closest sense. I prefer this alternate cut to the original, because it replaces the few scenes that I didn't care for. The tone is consistent throughout and the new scenes are welcome additions that bring more to the relationship of Lois and Clark/Superman. This is an alternate cut worth seeing, as it is about 45% different than the 'Superman II' that we already know. The only addition I didn't like was the new ending. The rest turns out to be an even more enjoyable sequel than the first incarnation.
