Costumes are nice and it’s admirable to focus on a lesser known historical figure. But David Hemmings is miscast. Honestly, I think Michael York would be a better choice for the lead. And he’s playing a Viking! Prunella Ransome is charming though.

A soggy epic missing the scope and grandeur that other films of this genre afford; David Hemmings and Michael York are ill at ease. Final Grade: C
