Spellbound review

Daniel Corleone - wrote on 03/06/2013

Dr. Constance Petersen (Bergman) becomes urious of Dr. Anthony Edwardes (Peck). Elements of romance and mystery. The film explains too much which complicates the plot which in effect prolongs the movie. When the supposed twist in the end arrives, one would feel drained because of the complicated theories. Some of the direction were superb, the performances of Bergman and Peck were good. Unfortunately, this was not suspenseful, and deals more with the psyche of how a killer works. Some of the highlights were the dream sequence, its ending and acting of the leads. Overall, Spellbound could have paved the way of classics such as Vertigo or Strangers on a Train. If only it were as well paced and entertaining as the aforementioned films from the director.
