The Samaritan (2012)

The Samaritan (Fury) review
Daniel Corleone - wrote on 04/24/12

Foley (Samuel L. Jackson) leaves the grifter's life. He encounters Iris (Ruth Negga) and discovers a dark truth. Samuel L. Jackson was really emotional, humorous and gritty at the same time. Soundtrack was applicable for each intense scene and action was believable. Pace of the film was right and its twists were good in a way. Unfortunately, the premise was very similar to Oldboy and a touch of The Grifters. Screenplay was well thought of with a couple of good lines: Foley - "Nothing changes because unless you make it change" and Xavier (Tom Wilkinson) - "It's just money." Themes of grifting, family, sacrifices and crime were in full display. The Samaritan is smart, stylish and entertaining for its kind of neo-noir thriller.
