At first sight this Japanese chiller had a familiar ring to it: the beautiful girl with long, lank hair and the ominous, rumbling soundtrack suggested a derivative work. This is misleading, though, even when
Kubrick's The Shining reveals itself to be an influence. There's an interesting reference to Herzog's Kasper Hauser, too. Despite it's sources, it manages to be a film of some originality and can be recommended to fans of the genre.
