Perfume: The Story of a Murderer

It stinks

A film that really pongs, rather like Brut - sweet and rather sickening. It might have been better had they not taken the preposterous story seriously and instead opted for a kind of House of Wax approach. A least there might have been a few laughs, though there are plenty of unintentional ones present here.

What really sinks it is the international cast. French, English and American actors, plus a German director. Accents all over the show and with it any sense of the story being grounded. Dustin Hoffman playing an Italian runs around shouting 'basta, basta'. Enough, indeed.
