Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again

After this, they owe us a third!

This is the first musical sequel I have ever seen, and I must say they did it so well I hope there'll be a third. To be honest, I'm not that really impressed with the first movie. You can't blame me, I didn't live in the age of ABBA, fine, most of the songs used were familiar, but I guess I am more used to a common Broadway style musical so the first movie was not really BIG for me. But watching this film, I want to watch the first movie again. The film gave a very little screen time for Meryl Streep (not that I'm complaining because the plot was interesting without older Donna). I did not expect that it could be this good. movie sequels either sustain the goodness of the first movie, but more often worse. But this sequel, I must say, it gets better from the first one. Who would have thought that the simple story line of "Mamma Mia!" could be stretched and explored in a way that is far from forced and unwanted. I appreciate the story of Sophie moving forward, and it's good we get to see how Donna get involved with Harry, Bill, and Sam. Music definitely still did some magic, enough balance of using new songs and songs from the first movie. Acting of the younger cast could be better of course, but wow! I can't believe they pulled in the rest of the original cast. Lastly, the good thing about Cher being part of it is that they open possibilities of a third one!
