Let me clear up the air and say that Avatar may have the highest quality of visual effects anyone has ever seen, but a mere high quality of beauty could not hide a hollow substandard storyline. It's really a high low film in my opinion, high it is when in the beginning you're somehow drawn to beautiful imagery and the flawless blending of reality and computer generated graphics. Lows of low for me when midway through the movie I felt like drowning. Drowning to a point where I felt like I’ve been drugged by beautiful scenery and CGI. And it’s not that I don’t like seeing this beauty overload but it’s somehow pointless looking at pretty sight with nothing to go about it. I’m sitting there staring mindlessly and a single minute felt like hours. I looked into my watch and I’m just 30 minutes into the movie and from that point on I knew something was wrong with Avatar. Even the main character’s narration was boring. It just took too long for me for something of substance to happen. Maybe that’s the problem, Cameron concentrated in making everything look good rather putting a little more substance to his so called masterpiece after Titanic. It even has a reference to the sinking of the doomed ship. Also some of the dialogue is atrocious even to a point of ridicule. This thing I read just moments ago in a website saying Avatar has hidden messages, I think I got those but frankly it’s not like we needed to be preached while watching this kind of movie. So overall Avatar is really not for everyone, if you’re just looking for pretty sights then this might just do it for you.
