Compared to many previous Evil Dead films, Sébastien Vanicek's take is much more brutal and mean - some may find the lack of black humor a bit off brand but I still found this more visceral experience a great horror turn. It does tie into the larger, recent picture (including a killer post-credit scene) and so we'll see where it goes from here but with a lot of anger and blood, this is an Evil Dead worth watching.
