Director Ben Leonberg used his own dog, Indy, as the main character and for an untrained animal, it was a better actor than you would find in many horror films. The dog's eye perspective really works - and visually the film is amazing with shadows and movement really amping up the tension. The sound is also key form animal noises to whistles - all around while the story may not be too deep, it still has plenty of impact.
