All too often it seems Hollywood would like nothing more than to glamorize war. Alex Garland, following the excellent Civil War, knocks another one out of the park with Warfare. Presented in mostly real-time, we follow a Navy SEAL platoon in Ramadi, Iraq as a violent uprising puts them in danger. Based on actual events, the film is harrowing and unflinching in its depiction of the conflict and buoyed by a superb cast including Will Poulter, Cosmo Jarvis, Joseph Quinn, D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai and Charles Melton. It's highly effective and deeply unnerving - but a must watch.
