Host is fine for what it is but anyone proclaiming this to be a top-tier horror film hasn't seen enough to make a good judgement. The film takes place entirely over Zoom (remember that, Covid-19 lockdown survivors?) and the low-budget/found footage kind of appeal does make for some tense moments but overall, I didn't find it near as effective as say a Hereditary or even It Follows. Kudos for taking advantage of what you had to work with but this is a pretty straight-forward affair with a few jump scares and gives off a slumber party horror kind of vibe.
