While narratively the film jumps between romance, mystery, court-room drama and coming-of-age all rolled into one - Daisy Edgar-Jones is a standout as Kya Clark - the Marsh Girl to the locals. Garret Dillahunt and David Strathairn are effective in small roles as her abusive father and caring lawyer respectively. While it really starts to strain its 2-hour running time, it does have a great kicker of an ending.
