Review - Edward Scissorhands (1990)

Edward (Johnny Depp) was a machine of a man, but also the gentlest soul in the world. His lonely life is turned upside down when he is brought to the real world in “Edward Scissorhands.”

Who knew that such a bizarre idea could end up being such a masterpiece? I don’t think I really appreciated this film until I listened to its commentary and realized through director Tim Burton’s own words just how beautiful the story is.

Of course, the film has Burton’s usual style, used to its fullest here more than ever. He has an unbelievably unique style, and it really works for this story. He created his own modern day fairy tale and made it work.

The acting, the music, the costumes, the make-up, the sets, everything in “Edward Scissorhands” is beautifully done. If you’re looking for the perfect Burton style film, this is it.
