I first watched this movie as a little kid, remember bit parts like the leg lamp, the bully, and the Christmas parade. I would watch it again years later when it became a regular on TNT during the holiday season. It's got to be one of the most hilarious and most beloved movies I've ever seen. Peter Billingsley did a wonderful job as Ralphie; his character occasionally display this goofy, yet lovable look. His quest to get his ultimate Christmas gift-a Red Ryder Air Rifle, is a treat. From hinting to his parents to the gift "bribe", and ultimately asking a somewhat off-the-wall Santa Claus for the gift is just fun. All he gets is a "You'll Shoot your Eye Out!" Ian Petrella did great as Ralphie's brother Randy. He is at times the typical little kid at his age, but then helps his family out like making his own bed, mentioned as having clean up the Christmas wrappings after opening, and shows love for his brother. Melinda Dillon as Mrs. Parker is just zany, never seeming to hold her laughs at comical moments. And, of course, Darren McGavin as Mr. Parker is downright hilarious. With his constant huffing and gruffing to his constant wisecracks to his astonishment when he won the lamp, he is this grumpy yet lovable character. I love the part when he says the word "FRA-GIL-LE" on the leg lamp carton. The leg lamp was one of the highlights of the film, and it was just funny how Ralphie keeps on touching it.

The tongue-on-flagpole, the soap-feeding, the Easter Bunny outfit, and the Chinese restaurant scenes are just a few moments that mixes in this great comedy. There is never a dull moment in this film, and will have you laughing from beginning to end, and will have you still feel the spirit of Christmas. All the characters are absolutely unforgettable, each one displaying his/her own comical emotions and cracking moments.

So, I triple-dog-dare-ya to watch this film every Christmas season.
