It's one shortcoming is how only skindeep its political observations are. It's a movie about our time for sure, but I can't say it's going to help anyone understand the situation in modern American any better. But otherwise, "One Battle After Another" is A+ filmmaking. It's an exillerating mix of comedy, action, neo-western, and political thriller, offering an off-kilter take on conventional genre films. I thought the ensemble cast was all great, and I appreciated the strong emotional connection that the characters develop in brief but affecting moments. I took away from it that all people, even radical revolutionaries and the authoritarians that seek to quash them, can still be human beings.
