Even during its most scandalous moments "In This Our Life" is a little too clean. It's feels more Frank Capra than John Huston and Raoul Walsh. But this melodrama on jealousy between siblings really takes off in the second half, and while not overly potent today, the racial aspect was pretty brave for its time.
