The Martian

Humorous Survival Movie On Mars

Based on the book by Andy Weir, "The Martian" is about a man named Mark Watney, played by Matt Daemon, who got left behind on Mars and he has to try to find a way to survive long enough so that NASA can bring him back home. This is a movie that I had high expectations for and it totally delivers on all four fronts. What I really like about it, and something that really surprised me, is how funny this movie is. It could've easily be a movie where's it's serious all the time, but director Ridley Scott found a way to make it a really funny movie while balancing the drama and intense nature at the same time. Matt Daemon has done an excellent job as Mark Watney. I love the character himself because despite the fact that he's stranded on Mars with no one else around, he always maintain an optimistic point-of-view. The movie also focuses a lot on NASA's point of view, as we see them trying to find a way to get Mark back home. I think they handled the NASA stuff extremely well as they make it interesting for the most part. Unfortunately, it also tends to drag more than it should as they feel just a little bit too long. Overall, this is a great film that needs to be seen by all.
