Tuck Everlasting: A Solid Book-to-Movie Adaptation

Apart from some cheesy slow-motion sequences, Disney did a fantastic job bringing Tuck Everlasting to the big screen. The casting was spot-on. The writers kept all the essential elements that make the novel so captivating - only slightly adapting key details to make the story more compelling.

There are aspects of the original novel that leave me feeling unsettled. In the film, Disney slightly alters the major ones, making Winnie's story more palpable & her motivations more authentic. For example, in the novel Winnie is essentially a 10-year-old being courted by a 17+-year-old, whereas in the film, she is now 15, her beau 17.

Additionally, there is not a socio-political agenda as far as the eye can see in the film. What a breath of fresh air just to enjoy a good story without being wrapped upon the wrist or told what to think.

Definitely one of the better book-to-movie adaptations I've seen for a while.
