"Jim Dodge" (Frank Whaley) is known to the biggest liar in town. He is also a slacker, who has bounced from job to job. Now, due to he must pay rent or move to St. Louis, he must work as a night janitor at the local Target store.

"Josie McClellan" (Jennifer Connelly) is the beautiful daughter of an influential business man, who is sick of him controlling her life. She ends up at the same Target store, deciding if she wants to embarrass her father by shoplifting. However, she falls asleep in the dressing room, and wakes to find "Dodge" slacking off on the job, as he is unsupervised thanks to his Supervisor locked the doors leaving them inside.

The two start to understand one another, and they begin to realize their life is just beginning, when two robbers enter the store and take them hostage. They just don't know what they've gotten themselves into with the two young people.

This movie is worth some laughs, but not many in my opinion. The lies by "Jim" could have been more comically outlandish that they would make the audience laugh, but they don't.

When the two meet the robbers, there are a number of comedic opportunities they could have done to thwart them, however they are not the kid from the "Home Alone" movies who could have come up with a way to use a Dustbuster, paint cans and any gel he could have spread on the floor to trip them up.

Connelly and Whaley make this movie pretty watchable. Both work their characters as near to perfect as you can get. They even work well together.

The soundtrack is real good, as the lyrics of the songs help describe what is going on in the scene.

Personally, I think that the director was quite limited with the fact that most of the film takes place inside the store. He did a fair job with what was available in the script.

I think that, if there is nothing else on, you should see this on TV. In my opinion, it's not worth adding to your DVD collection.
