The Son (2023)

Coming from the guy who loved The Father, it brings me great sadness to report that The Son is a complete failure of a movie, only just saved by Hugh Jackman's efforts.
None of the drama worked due to the story-line and writing of the characters. Its portrayal of teenage depression is alarming and unnatural, and at times it was unintentionally funny how forced and dramatic it is.
The final gut-punch scene of the movie is the most insulting due to how emotionally manipulative it is. None of the emotional scenes worked at all.
I cannot believe this is the same director who made The Father, as it comes across as a pretentious and amateur director straight out of film school who made this.
