Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom

Mandela's Long Stint in Prison

'Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom' is one biopic that doesn't dive deep into the person of subject, or show a majority of their life in a fantastical dramatic fashion. As per the sub-title, Nelson Mandela's long stay in prison is the main point of interest here. The film greatly represents all of the man's political ideals, his reasonings for imprisonment, and the inner workings of his eventual release and win for presidency. It does good to accurately, and believably, recreate the tragedies of a specific place and time, as well as the famous figures. Idris Elba becomes Mandela with ease. Despite these points, I still felt a lack of dramatical sense and emotion throughout. It may not have everything I was looking for, or tell me anything new, but I can't deny that it's completely well done.
