After a falling out with his parents (Cathrine O' Hara & John Heard), a clever and precocious eight-year old Kevin McCalister (Macaulay Culkin) makes a wish that his family would just go away. But, the day they leave for their Christmas vacation to Paris, they leave in such a hurry that they forget one thing: KEVIN. He makes the most of his situation by doing all the things he couldn't do without his family's permission and discovers the thrill of being independent, but then unexpectedly finds himself defending his home from local wet bandits Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern doing it with more punch and style than anyone else could do. Meanwhile, mom and dad go out of their minds when they get to Paris and discover what has happened. If only they knew what an ingenious and imaginative son they had... One of the funniest movies of all time best suited for watching especially at Christmastime. The best part of this movie is probably the last 25 minutes because of all the traps. The humor is decent, the slapstick almost painfully real, this is a good movie with heart that deserved the success bestowed upon it at the time.
