A typical Godard experience for me. Technically speaking, the film is brilliant: some of the tracking shots (especially the famous one of the traffic jam and the back-and-forth 360 pan in the barnyard) are astonishing, and there are moments of inspired humor and satire. On the other hand, the film is (purposely) disjointed, off-putting, often boring, and worst of all preachy. Of course, this is Godard's objective. And while I appreciate the artifice, the pointed self-reflexivity, I often don't appreciate the Marxist pretensions. It's hard to even rate it on a scale of stars; it seems to exist outside of film in some ways. But it's certainly worth watching at least once.

I really think this is one of Godard's worst films and is painfully bad.
