A blunt edged satire that does not work particularly well despite the good acting throughout. The film has two halves one half where O'Toole thinks he is Jesus what is one comic attempt scene after another. They become repetitive and only a few of them are funny. Then he becomes Jack The Ripper where the satire becomes too heavy handed and is just not smart enough to written in such a way. Despite O'Toole's performance becoming really interesting the whole set of actions is obvious and too forced. The film is odd some of it works, such as I liked the strange short musical numbers but most of it does not.
