Get Yer Weinsteins Out of My Miramax

Looks like the fate of Miramax is once more firmly in the "mostly-dead" category again after brothers Bob and Harvey Weinstein's efforts to buy back the film division from Disney.

However, both camps are claiming early reports have been exaggerated and the deal is still forthcoming, just not as quickly as some people would like. Whatever the case, it doesn't seem that money is the deciding factor, but rather how Miramax would be integrated into the existing Weinstein Co. Their track record has been shaky at best, but for sentimental and financial reasons, it would seem the deal would be in the best interest for both parties.

Miramax had its heyday in the mid 90s when Pulp Fiction, Clerks, The Crying Game and Trainspotting. It might be a bit in the "faded glory" category, but when you name a company after your own parents, it would be nice to get it back again. No matter how you feel about the guys, they at least deserve that.
